Publicity Matters helps DC celebrate CIRCULATOR expansion

WASHINGTON, D.C.  (April 20, 2009) –  Having been the public relations agency of record to launch the DC CIRCULATOR bus in 2005, Publicity Matters was summoned to assist with the recent route expansion of the increasingly popular transportation initiative in Washington, D.C.

Working closely with the DC Department of Transportation, Publicity Matters helped coordinate a celebratory press event (photos below and right) featuring DC Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, and worked to secure earned media coverage with The Washington Post, Fox 5 News, NewsChannel 8 and WTOP Radio, among others.

Since its inception in July 2005 the CIRCULATOR has been both an attractive and much needed transportation alternative for residents, workers and tourists navigating around downtown Washington.

To accommodate the demands of the route expansion, 14 new buses have been purchased.  The new buses are similar to the 29 European-style buses making up the original CIRCULATOR fleet albeit a few feet shorter allowing for flexible deployment based on ridership demand.
